Walker Canyon Loop, located in Walker Canyon Ecological Reserve in Orange County, is a wide, flat dirt road that meanders through rolling hills, rocky outcroppings, and beautiful high desert sage-chaparral plant communities.
This hike has absolutely no shade and often reaches upwards of 100 degrees during summer, making November through May an ideal time to visit. What's more, spring here is characterized by mass blooms of numerous wildflower species. Every year (typically the peak is during March and April) these desert hills come alive with a bright, multi-colored carpet of purple lupine, yellow mustard, and orange poppies, just to name a few.
This sounds like a fun place to hike during the winter! Thank you for warning us that temps can reach up to 100, I love the pictures.
